Windows 11 - Disable Annoying Notification Sounds [Tutorial]

Some apps and programs in Windows 11 have the ability to send you notification with an alert sound whenever triggered by an event. This can get annoying if the notification pops up too frequently, especially for apps such as Dropbox which notifies you whenever a photo or file is synced.

On Windows 11, notifications keep you in the loop about things happening around your digital life, and they also alert you of anything in your system that may require your attention. However, each banner that slides out in the bottom-right corner also includes a sound, which can quickly get annoying.

Issues addressed in this tutorial:
sound notification windows 11
windows notification sound
low battery notification sound windows 11
windows 11 notification sound change
windows notification sound effect
email notification sound windows 11
windows 11 generic notification sound
windows 11 notification sound not working
windows 11 notification sound off
turn off notification sound windows 11
windows sound notification
windows 11 notification sound effect

Windows 11 has a feature that provides notifications for different apps called “Toast Notifications.” The notifications slide out in the lower-right corner of the screen above the taskbar and are accompanied by a chime. But sometimes, you don’t want to be startled by that noise, either at home or the office.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 11 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, and Samsung.

For everyone STILL having problems with annoying sounds after disabling them, go to the task bar > right click sound icon > click sound settings > scroll down to more sound settings (this will open a small window with sounds settings) > click sounds tab > sound scheme is windows default, change it to no sound. That's it! Please like this comment so it can help more people!

It would be MORE helpful if the system TOLD me exactly WHY it is playing that infernal harp pluck (System Generic Notification) out of nowhere! There are NO file transfers that have completed, etc etc. 😡

If everything else fails:
windows start > settings > personalization > themes > sounds > Sound scheme > No Sounds

In order for me to disable system sounds, I right clicked the bottom right volume button, open sound settings, clicked on App Volume and device preferences in advanced sound options, then I set system sounds to 0. This is what people were looking for I think.

I still get that annoying popup ding sound in Outlook when deleting a file. How do I disable that?

This did nothing to change the relentless notification sounds. I set system sounds to Zero and so far so good. But I'd rather know where they're coming from, so I can address the actual problem. Turning the volume down or off, isn't really a solution.

Can you please show how to disable sounds when clicking on the volume bar? It's like the worst thing ever, keeps giving a bubble like sound every time I change volume from below.

All notifications are turned off and I am still getting a constant intermittent beep on my HP Laptop. If I take out the Bluetooth devices it still happens and in the bottom notification bar it is blinking in and out so I can't even see what it is that is triggering the beeping sound. Any other suggestions?
