The number of coronavirus cases is on the rise here in Germany, with authorities recording just over 1,700 new infections in the past 24 hours. It's the highest daily figure since April, when the pandemic was considered to be at its peak. The surge has been blamed on holidaymakers returning home, as well as parties and family gatherings. Earlier this month, Germany introduced free, mandatory tests for anyone returning from areas deemed to be high-risk for COVID-19 infections.

When you need a boost to the economy, you encourage people to take holidays. When corona cases surge, you blame holidaymakers. How convenient.

642 is considered a surge? That's a good day in any state across the US.

What do you expect, if people go out to party and cram together like sardines, of course the cases of coronavirus are going to surge like crazy.

Why no mention about the death rate, which is extremely low?

That's their own fault. WHO said No gathering, must stand 6ft away and wear a mask and they didn't comply the rules so that what they get.

Talking about 2nd wave 🌊... the deathrate in whole Germany is still between 0-10 people per day since the last months... And Polulation in Germany is about 1/4th of USA... would be so nice if deathrate in USA would be just 0-40 per day :/ but it's about 400-1500 per day.

In Germany, many cases where the test results are ready on Saturday and Sunday are normally reported only the following Wednesday or Thursday, so these numbers are slightly distorted. However, if you take a 7 day average, it is still more than 1000/day, compared to 300/day in June, and the positivity rate has increased from 0.5% to 1.0%, so this is a real increase. In early april, it was around 6000/day.

Yeah the protests with no one wearing masks is not a contributing factor at all. Its people coming back from holidays and partying.

R-Value of India is near to 1.06 and there are 62, 282 people recovered in single day hence every cloud has silver lining too.

"The rise in cases is due to parties and outdoor raves" - a statement asserted without evidence, pushing an untestable hypothesis. unglaublich
