This Law of Buddha can Save Your Life : Inspirational stories of Buddha (The Law of Karma)

What is the impact of prayers on the effects of our Karma? Can religious rituals help a sinner go to heaven? The question was answered effectively by Buddha.
Buddha was staying in the Pava Mango Grove near Nalanda. One day while Buddha was deep in meditation, a young man came to him crying. Buddha heard the cry and came out. He asked the man why he was crying with such intense pain?
The young man said Tathagat my old father died yesterday.
Buddha asked him, I am so sorry to hear that. But will your cry bring him back to life?
The young man said, Tathagat I know my cry will not have any impact on what has already happened. Crying will not bring him back. I am concerned about what will happen to him now that he is dead. Can he make it to heaven or if he would be punished severely in hell? Please do something so that my father can go to heaven. I am not sure if he can make it to the abode of gods, with the kind of Karma he has performed in his life.
