Here's a fresh unboxing of the Savox 1258tg servo. This is my "goto" servo for all my SCT's and this one will be going in my "Project Sleeper" Traxxas Slash 4x4. At 167 in/oz of torque and .08 sec response time, you can't beat it at the current price of about $70!!!

Here's where I got it and some info from Savox:

The SC1258TG combines leading edge technology with super high 12-bit (4096) resolution and titanium and aluminum gears for one amazing servo! With titanium and aluminum gears, this servo is truly magical. Pushing 167 ounces of torque and a blistering .08 transit time, this servo is redefining what an all-around servo should be capable of. This is a great upgrade to most comparably priced servos.

Features:
Combines leading edge technology with super high 12 bit (4096) resolution and titanium gears.
Super light-weight.
Coreless motor provides high speed, incredible efficiency, and low power consumption.
Extremely strong titanium gears ensure long-life and durability.
The aluminum case design not only looks good but also allows for cooler and smoother operating temps.
Our servos are totally green -- from materials to production, these servos are environmentally friendly.
Ideal for CCPM on 600 and 700 class heli, steering servo on 1/10 scale buggies.
Dimensions(mm): 40.3x20.2x37.2

The 1270's series servos are great. Lots of torque like the SCX10 needs. I run the 1283sg in my SCX10 with 1.9's and 2.2's. I have one of the 1210 Waterproof ones on the way though. The Savox servos do draw current, that's why I run a 10 amp CC BEC on mine, with no troubles. Most of the time people don's understand what a BEC is or how to properly hook it up. People's main issue with Savox is the noise, which doesn't bug me

Stay tuned, I have an unboxing of the new high voltage 1270tg scheduled in a couple of days. Many ESC's can't handle the newer high voltage servos causing everyone to have to run BEC's. Then there's user error on wiring it up. the new RX8 gen 2 has addressed this with a adjustable internal BEC to 7.4v

I ran the 1257tg. A bit less torque than the 1258, but a .07 sec response time. I also see people running the 1251, low profile servo if space is a concern, but you will lose a bit of torque and speed over the 1257tg. But TLR designed the 22 to have a regular sized servo and a regular sized receiver mount in with no problems.

Cool deal. Depending on what wheels you're running, the Vanquish Stage one kit (high Clearance knuckles) may have issues. I did, and have a solution video if you search through my scx10 vids.

I run a 1258tg in my SCT410 with no problems. I was worried about the heavier sct410 needing a bit more torque, but no issues here

May have the same name, but not the same spec or warranty in the US

Hi Rich, i know these 1258's are ur fav but what's your take on high voltage servos? I have never ran one (still running a couple ACE ds1013's) but wonder why more people don't if they can change their bec voltage up. After all, more volts usually means less amps

I have an sct410, and being big on overkill, I went with the Savox 2271sg. Not titanium, but insane speed/torque combo. 277ozin/.06sec. This would have been my second choice though.

Tough choice! If you can get a great deal on the 2270, go for it! Price wise, the new 1270 is $25 cheaper and put out a bit more torque. Like I said, I run the 1283sg in my SCX10 and have used hitec's legendary $125 7955tg ad seriously like the $99 1283sg better! Not sure of your set up on your 1.9rig, but once you make everything solid up front, you really feel the power of a decent 300+ in/oz servo!

Just a fix*: This is not a Brushless Servo! Coreless Motors still use Brushes..

Most likely, you have to install an external BEC (Pretty easy to do, just follow the directions - The 10 amp Castle BEC is great and only about $20). The internal BEC of the MMP is horrible with high voltage servos like the Savox. I was able to use a Spektrum Cap (Much like your Novak GB) to calm mine down. I actually got rid of my MMP for the Tekin RX8 and it cured all the problems. Hope this helps

I run the Savox 1257tg in both my TLR22 and my B44.2. Solid servo and super quick at .07 sec response time. If you want added torque, the 1258tg adds about 30 in/oz of torque over the 1257tg with only a penalty of .01 sec. I do run a voltage cap (spektrum and racers edge makes one that just plugs into an open port on your receiver, both are about $5-7) to keep the servo playing nice with the esc/receiver

because I haven't unboxed it on my channel yet! lol When I bought my first Savox Servo, I was real hesitant because really hadn't heard of them. Maybe one of my several subscribers are on the fence as well. I'm just putting some info out on why I bought it and what vehicles I've used it in.

They're price protected for the most part. Nitrohouse is my local shop and has the full line. The newer ones, I have ordered directly from Savox, which ships out of Salt Lake City, Utah

No problem! You'll love the Gen 2 RX8. Check out my vid on how I soldered it up if you have any questions (search on YT, Tekin RX8 Gen 2) As for settings, Randy Pike (Team Manager at Tekin) runs his Tekno with the stock settings on the RX8 Gen 2.

Any of the 1270's series. Some have speed over torque, torque over speed. I would do about 300 in/oz of torque in an 1/8th scale though

Yep, I've ran these 1258's in the following: Slash 4x4, Nexx10sc, Exo Terra, SCTE, SCTE/MIP, Tekno SCT410
