Sun dogs and halos | Weather Wise Lessons

Have you ever heard of a sun dog?

It sounds like some sort of cool rock band, but it’s actually a member of the halo family. These are optical effects in the sky created by a combination of the right sun angle and usually high clouds.

22 degree halos appears in the sky in my ancestral village when important elders or personalities pass away 😳

This halo returns to the sky during a memorial public holiday 16th February for a late bishop who was murdered ... and later named a saint by Church of England ... he is also from my region - Saint Janani Luwum ..he was also recognized as a martyr by the Anglican Communion

Also in the 80s a famous army commander from my my region again, he passed away, his plane was shot at ... this halo appeared in the sky

This halo only appears in our region (North) compared to the other regions in our country Uganda...

Our Parliament speaker died and this 22 degree halo appeared at his burial ...

The late is also from my region...

When our great sons of the soil die this things comes during the day - with the sun 🙊

Everyone DO THIS EXPERIMENT. Use a metal bowl flip it over. Now use a fire source (lighter) and place it close to the edge. You'll see the EXACT "sun dog" reflection. So that means sun is closer and hitting the glass dome

This comment section is so sad, with all these flatearthers and their nonsense about the firmament and a dome. The churches and religious schools that teach this crap should face punishment for miseducation. Whatever happened to critical thinking skills?
