Air India Express Flight Makes Miraculous Landing At Trichy Airport After 2-Hour Mid-Air Scare

Air India Express Flight IX613, en route from Trichy to Sharjah, made a safe landing at Trichy airport after experiencing technical difficulties with its landing gear. The aircraft, carrying 141 passengers, had to circle above the airport for nearly two hours to burn off fuel and reduce the risk of combustion during landing.

A full emergency was declared at Trichy airport, a procedure activated when an aircraft approaches the aerodrome dangerously. In preparation for a potential belly landing—where the plane lands on its underside—15 ambulances and almost a dozen fire engines were on standby. Fortunately, the plane landed safely without incident, avoiding the need for an emergency belly landing.
