So, small theory. The Darkness did corrupt Barney when he was a Doll. However it seemed that it got his other friends, even children.

My theory is that the Darkness had a hard time getting Barney, since he is a not just a dinosaur, but a baby (2 dinosaur years old according to him, which equals 2 million/billion years old). Barney is such a being of love, that in the end the Darkness only got him as a doll, and now is just barely controlling a corpse. Because Barney is one of the few Corrupted that is actually so convincingly fools everyone that he's uncorrupted. He's done it like 3 or 4 times in the song.

Barney becoming a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a powerful ancient Carnivore, is the final nail to the head. Barney is gone, almost. He's become a full fledged Dinosaur, mindless and dangerous. Roaring in anger and hunger, only proving he's gone. And the part where he's facing off against Pico in the end, there's barely a spark of Barney inside. That gives Pico enough time to dodge him when he lunges forward. Honestly i thought he was going to die like the Raptor in Jurassic Park 2.

Its interesting to see that the corruption would actually manipulate other characters with thier own puppets. Its almost something like a mimic, but more like Possessed.

At 6:43 this is the original design of Barney, because the shows creator wanted him to be like originally this but not wanting to scare her own 4 year old daughter she had to change his design to be a bit more kid-friendly( it's kinda impressive to see it being used in his third mutation)
