Pivots and octave displacement - one of the essential elements of the bebop language, well explained!

Great insight! It is crazy how much of an effect the octave jumps have. It even works on piano and is comparably simple to implement.

Great video. It makes sense that Charlie, being a woodwind player, would come up with this. Pivoting keeps him playing in his sweet spot and not getting to high or low on his horn. A piano player would be much less focused on that. Very cool.

Lol I who said you need a guitar teacher to learn. You don’t, and I know how and what Coltrane, and Davis we’re playing in-depth. Works on guitar. Shapes . Shapes like triangles and squares lol no circles. That’s to much, the shapes are almost always just arpeggios four note one to if u here a guitarist say playing shapes. Idk why they can’t just say shapes turn out to be arpeggios. Other wise u just play a shape and ok what u doing? U don’t know? Give me that damn
