My Great Great Parents came to West Michigan in 1820 along with many German, Irish, Polish, and Hollanders. Love this Song and dedicate it to all my family spread out thruout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illnois ..especially my Son.. just moved to Chicago a year ago and got a great job, asked his one true love for her hand in marriage...

Lovely! My grandparents came over from Cork, in the 19th century. I was born on the SW side of Chicago (almost 65 years ago - EEEK!). To this day, I am just as proud to be "South Chicago Chi-rish" as I am of being of Irish blood. When I was little, I heard of the *ahem* "representatives of the Irish Republican cause" who came to give speeches and hold rallies in local parishes. Ostensibly, they were there to raise money for food and medical supplies, but more than a few local lads went back with them, to fight for "the cause."
