Here I'm actually playing significantly louder than a cranked marshall full stack, yet with a basically clean tone!

These speakers will now be selling for approximately 200% more on eBay now due to the " Johan Factor " 👍

I love that the sound is so powerful that every major guitar strum makes the right side of the picture vibrate. That's pushing some air for sure. Nice job!

Stevie’s last rig was a Dumble SSS and two Bassman Reissues. All speakers were EV 10’s and 12’s. I took pictures when some of his gear was at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles a few years ago.

Yep, Frank Marino should be more well known for his technique and his tone. What a Monster!
I have used EVM’s since I was a kid playing in a bar band back in 1977. Had a Road 2-15 that was basically a Mesa Road Ready bass cab. (Built like a tank, used to take that stuff for granted back then…not anymore). They came stock in lots of Bass Cabs. Nothing like that tone! Growl for days, and yes extremely sturdy.
Just located an old EVM 15B that will stay in a studio bass cab. Only rated at 200 watts, but IMO you just can’t replicate that tone with any other driver.

I have two of the MB 4x10s with the EVMs - they are great cabs for guitar and extremely efficient - and I got them for a steal before Johan posted this video! My '65 Bassman sounds brilliant when dimed through one of them - going to run a newly serviced 135 watt Twin through both this weekend - I predict broken glass. I have 6 more of the EVMs loose and four are headed for a tweed bassman cab - only drawback with the MB 4x10 cabs is that the regular one weighs about 105 lbs and the road ready version has to be close to 125. Thanks again Johan!

My stereo rack rig in the 90s was boogie quad pre into strategy 400 into 2 custom diesel road cabs with 4x10 EVMs. Yes, very loud! Before that 12L's in thiele cabs, I still use a pair of 12L's in my Dumblish/Hiwatt twin amp. Love everything about EVs but the weight. Before that I had a pair of Dean Markley tube combos (CD30 and CD212) with EV 12Ls so that's really the sound my ear and playing grew up with.
The 4x10 cabs were shallower than your bass cab and had removable back panel inserts so they could be open or closed back. They sounded best open and with tubes, I think you'll really like them in the super reverbs.

It's amazing how a set of speakers can really alter the sound. That sound at 4:13 is positively HEAVY.

3:49 is how I like to play. Hard rocking rhythm.

Yeah, the Hendrix-Stevie ray type tone is my favorite guitar tone.. I would definitely like to see more about how to get varieties of their tones.. also FRANK MARINO!! If you want to do some more about these guys tones, that would be awesome, thanks Johands!

I must admit that you have this own sound for a long while, independent which gear you use. But this one. It sounds not like the other hundreds before. I really like the sound in this video.

A couple of notes: SRV is famous for playing most often #3 switch middle pickup. I noticed your LP-favored-roots keeping you on bridge for much of the video with only slight teases on the neck pickup -- I know how those 'tones you your head' get you in that pocket ;) Spend more time with the Neck and Middle pickups on the Strat. Try lowering the neck and middle pickups until the pickup covers are level with the pickguard and set the bridge height so you have volume parity switching Neck to Bridge. It seems like the Strat's most magical tones happen within that first 1/8th to 1/4 inch window just above the pickguard (which depends on magnet strength).
