👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️🚑 Happy Medical Monday 🚑👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
Quick note: Relativistic effects from the appearance of a 6th energy level, a 4f orbital, and significantly more massive nucleus contribute to why Lead is +2 vs +4. The explanation in video is supposed to be said simply. Describing an atomic model without using words "electrons, " "protons, " "neutrons, " and "orbitals" and making it less than 2 minutes is why it is the way it is in video. I rewrote it several times over almost 2 months.

Unfortunately this happened to my uncle when he was a child, who passed away in his 50s last year. He ate lead paint off of the walls. He suffered from seizures his whole life and never had a normal life due to being a little slower than others. I hope this never happens to another child.

It's one of the saddest things in the world to think that a single event can forever change a person and all their thoughts, dreams and possibilities in life.

I am a father of a small daughter and heavy metal poisoning truly terrifies me.

An addendum to this:

Remember that Oil Companies fought tooth and nail to try and keep adding lead in gasoline legal.

I had pretty serious lead poisoning as a baby from lead paint chips in the windowsills of our house! It’s tough to know exactly how it affected my growth and development and affects me today. I have ADHD that my parents refused to acknowledge when I was younger which is probably because of the lead poisoning, and some other complications that we just can’t be sure about. Lead poisoning is very serious! Thank you for spreading awareness
