Once, on a trip to Serbia, we've been pulled over for a quick inspection (documents, baggage, whatnot) at the border. After everything was done, my friend started up the car, and - totally unintentionally, I must add - this song began to play, pretty loudly. It was kind of embarassing for a moment, but when the border guard began to sing along, we were relieved. A few moments later, the staff on duty gave us a "salute" (raised their fists, in reference to the lyrics) and we've departed with this song blaring from the stereo. It was a funny experience, indeed.

My Father is Kosovar-Albanian. When his father and his brother visited us lately we were drinking some Slivovic in the evening and sometimes they talked serbian so i wouldn't understand them. I then sang this for fun and they stared to sing along with such passion.

Also my grand-uncle, who still lives in his village in southern serbia, still has a picture of Tito in his living room. That's hillarious i actually have socialist ancestors.

I'm a half slovenia and half German my Father lived in Yugoslavia and he told me about this time and of course Tito and for this man i have the biggest RESPECT and maybe he will be the only one
