I reviewed two popular engines 1.5 hdi and 1.6 hdi. Each of them has its pros and cons, but there are some points that you can't turn a blind eye to, especially when choosing an engine and buying a car.
There are a number of disputes on these issues on the Internet. After watching this video, it will become clearer which engine is right for you.

The 1.5 chain linking the camshafts will last at most 200.000 km and are prone to failure way before that. The 1.6 also started at 16v, but had issues so they went to 8v. I wonder why they use the exact same design on the 1.5. My guess is that the company is run by accountants and not engineers.

Thanks for the video! I have a Opel Grandland X (twin of Peugeot 3008) with the 1.6 DV6 120hp engine and the 6speed automatic gearbox from new. Currently at 95000km, I intend to keep it until 300k km.

Most euro 6 are prone failure when used for short journeys, excessive exhaust back pressure causes end float play in the turbo with makes it burn more engine oil instead off diesel, the 10 more bhp the engine makes is probably lost when when connectec to the exhaust 😂

Hi bro! Want to ask you, do you know something about the Bosh CP4s high pressure fuel pumps they use in the 1.6? I mean they are prone to fail but i cant find nothing in the internet about 1.6 bluehdi failing because of the pump. Every one is talking how they fail and flow metal dust in the fuel system and damage the injector! Then you have to clean the tank and all of the fuel system, new injector and pump which is about 3000 to 4000 euros! Thats mad.

My 1.6 started having issues with adblue at 130000 km so I cut it out from the software. Would this cause the dpf to get clogged faster?

PSA engineers all want wood, for so many years they have been trying to make a good engine and their mind is always on the chains, what would you want the chain on the 1500 diesel, there are so many reliable sets without problems, 2 helical gears at the end of the camshafts and the problem is over once and for all, take a look at the isyzy 1700 diesel that the Opel Astra 2013 model is wearing... get the chains out of your head now... the belts that you bathed in oil... go to reliable engines, you are destroying Peugeot Citroens... now you will destroy Opel too with these engines
