Cut and Fill Calculations

In this video, I want to show you how to calculate the amount of spoil that will need to excavate if we were to level our building site to a given reduced level using the Grid Method. I will also show you how to work out the reduced level that will give us no spoil to remove.

Hi Mate thanks for the great video! I understand this, however my assignment states that a bulking factor of the soil is 1.25. Do you know how this would affect the calculation of the volume?

You are doing it the long way, just multiply number times each level occurs by the grid level at that point then divide the overall total by total number of grid points and you get same answer in half the time.

Since contour lines 11 and 12 weren't presented on your survey sheet, it would not easier to understand the relations between those grids, and I didn’t see any fill?

Hi Dude, Firstly love all your videos, without which i wouldn't be completing my Cert 4 lol, quick question, what happens if you have calculations in the corner height column and product H &N column that are a negative? do you subtract these from your positive calculations? or total them in a separate calculation to get your fill volume?
