Plane Hack For Small Stock. Woodworking Tip!!! #woodworking

Planing small pieces of wood by hand can be difficult. How do you hold it flat without crushing or bending the wood? How do you keep what you're using to hold the work out of the way of the plane?

This quick hack uses a cheapo saw that's blunt and due to be thrown away. It can't be sharpened because of its hardened teeth.

I make sure it's securely clamped to the bench and cover the excess teeth with masking tape to prevent my fingers getting caught.

It's then quick and easy to plane the thin pieces of wood.

Great tip, always struggling with holding skinny boards, this should help. Thanks

That’s a useful tip which I’ve never seen before. On a different note, I’m not sure I heard you cover it although I’ve seen you using them, how are you getting on with the Narex Richter chisels? Maybe a topic for a review video.

Fuckin brilliant. I litterly just cut up a "strong tie" with a saw shape on one side to do the same thing. Wish I thought of using the saw. Would have saved me some time.
