I thought that the conventional wisdom was to not cut suckers off of determinate tomato plants, because they produce a predetermined number of fruit and removing suckers will reduce total fruit production. It's indeterminates that are recommended to be pruned as you demonstrate.

I have a Determinate Tomato plant and it seems to be short and bushy and there are blooms on it. Should I remove the blooms so it will grown taller?

i just planted some starts, and there's already flowers on them. Should I cut those out because the plant is so small?

If you want it grow up, up and up to 7/8 feet tall, why don't you plant an indeterminate tomato instead. Celebrity is considered a semi-determinate. It is not genetically programed to grow tall. I only remove the very bottom suckers on my celebrities for the airflow and to make it easier more accessible for watering. Otherwise, I leave all other suckers. Some of them I top off at some point later on if I find it necessary. I had close to 40 nice size tomatoes on the plant and our growing seasons are pretty short. I believe your pruning method is great for indeterminates. Determinates, on the other hand, are bush type varieties that mostly don't get very tall and require minimal prunning. Even, dwarf indeterminates shouldn't be prunned to a single stem. Otherwise, you will end up with much less than 10 tomatoes per plant.
The video is good with lots of good info, but for the wrong plant variety. Regardless, I am giving it thumbs up.
