I like how it referenced both *The Battle Hymn of the Republic* and *John Brown’s Body* while sharing the same melody.

Since it's not in the description, I just want to mention that these lyrics were written by Len Chandler, a great songwriter from the Greenwich Village scene who toured around with Cordell & Bernice Reagon & the Freedom Singers during the Civil Rights Movement in the '60s & later. This recording is from an appearance he made on Pete Seeger's 1964-65 TV series Rainbow Quest, & is the only recording I've found of Chandler himself performing the song.

Len Chandler died just a few days ago, at the age of 88.

They will say your protests and demonstrations are "too disruptive", that your pleas and calls to action are "divisive".

What moral high ground do they have when we carry on the legacy of John Brown? To hell with decorum. They will only realize their fragility when we stop playing by their rules - rules they dont play by themselves.

Honestly the Black Panthers were so fucking cool and you can clearly see the discrimination they were fighting against. When they carries guns they were portrayed as Terrorists but when white people got to carry guns, they were just given a stare due to the open fire arm. And then they also made pancakes and breakfast for less-fortunate kids, Honestly they were fucking cool.

I will proudly say as a Native American-White mixed with very little if any black in me that if I lived back in the 60s, I'd join and fight for the Black Panther Party.

Len Chandler A great but sadly little recognized singer/songwriter fro. the 1960s. I doubt many people now have ever heard of him.
