Don't feel bad, I did the same thing on the stupid strap!! I don't know how many cuss words I let loose before I figured it out!! LOL Then it was a slap in the forehead!

I had the same exact proplem with front not shutting/clasping if back was in place and vice versa. I will try your method as i just gave up tonight. Very stiff fit hopefully losens up. Did your top losen eventually and have more give?
