I watched the sun rise while playing this game way too many times.

When I was first playing Quake when it originally came out I didn't realize NIN had done the soundtrack even though I was a huge NIN fan. But i noticed the ammo crates for the nail gun had a big NiИ logo on them and that was what tipped it off for me. I looked into it and sure enough. This really is the perfect example of '90s industrial.

my dad is a fan of your music, everytime he talks or hears about your band, he allways smiles, i enjoy playing old games because they are mostly bug-free and have great game design, the moment I saw that your band made the Quake soundtrack, I was surprised, thanks Nine Inch Nails

The soundtrack that got me into dark ambient music. Thank you, Trent Reznor.

I love this soundtrack. It is incredibly savage and aggressive in a subconscious way. It's a "feeling" not so much songs. It matches the game perfectly. It's also a sound that only Reznor can create.

My friend Papas and got a doom/quake maratones for 3 days in a row, no stop. Only beer some fries and poop for break... Jajaja when we stopped and got out of house to buy food we got shocked really bad... The open space, the sky real high, the people staring at our so red eyes.... Jajaja those were the days!!! 😂

John Carmack and John Romero were both industrial and metal fans. Those chose NIN for a reason. Look at the album that came out before quake. It was written 1 year in between The Downward Spiral and The Fragile. Both those albums were incredibly dark and Quake was really a dark game in the little narrative it had outside of the music and visuals and boss fights. I remember when the Demo CD of this game was in early game magazines and you could get a demo CD mailed for free. Fuck hearing this makes me feel old.

I recall being made aware several months after Quake was actually released that NIN did the sound track. The crates were the thing that made that believable because I was a big NIN fan concurrently when the game was released. But I later recall reading articles that quoted Trent saying how much he was a fan of Doom and wanted to lend his talents to anything John Carmack and ID Software were doing at the time. Thus, this is deep, lush and scary. But it is also fun to think about where Trent was in his life when he composed this deranged subterranean sound... In his life at the time he was on a rapid decent into overdose and death. He was a lucky man to have found a way to survive the 90's and come out clean on the other end. There is some dark stuff in this sound track.

Trent Reznor is like the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart of synths. Words can't express how great his music is and how well he can create an atmosphere.

This soundtrack is awesome and fits Quake perfectly. However, it was also pretty fun to pop in a CD of John Philip Sousa marches or Benny Goodman big band swing for an entirely different Quake soundtrack.

The stereo imaging from  10:00  and on is absolutely insane. I hear those mouth sounds come from right next to my ear even though I'm 10 feet away. (Speakers)

This is an awesome soundtrack for tabletop RPGs, especially horror genre.

One of the best and genius soundtracks that ever existed! Occult, dark, grim, dynamic, horrific, drive, exciting - all of this really represent the mood, philosophy and mean of this game. Somebody can say that Quake I it is Doom clone because of plot, but whole Quake I world is more scary and full of mysticism of Howard Lovecraft. That makes him absolutly amazing. Stoggs were scarry and fun though but kinda generic. In this game you see can really twisted horrors of slipgate. I only wish the Quake V will be done in this style because even developers said that the Strogg timeline has no continuation. And i will be double happy if Trent will make soundtracks for QV because nobody feel the mood of this game and style better than Trent. Industrial music really fits to the cyberpunk-medival mix in this game. Anyway NiИ FTW!

This is like the lost NiN album... I hate the fact that it isn't on Spotify (or something similar)!

It's great stuff.
