A World War II veteran marked his 100th birthday with a commemorative skydive over his hometown of Coronado, California, on August 15.

Veteran Tom Rice landed on the beach in front of Hotel Del Coronado after he jumped from 7,500 feet.

Rice was a paratrooper and a member of the 101st Airborne Division that took part in D-Day landings on the coast of France in 1944.

Rice parachuted from a C-47 over Normandy to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day in June 2019.

Rice said he felt “great” after the jump, and plans to do another for his 101st birthday.

Mr. Rice was my high school teacher, he taught Social Studies. He would also do the school auctions and dress up fancy for the part. He was a fun teacher.
