On "My Car Story" we're in Suburbs of Medford OR on 7-29-24.

We're looking at a 1965 Pontiac GTO in House of Color Goldmine Pearl Paint.

The car comes with the 421 CI HO V8 engine and a 4 Speed manual transmission.

The car's Owner is Larry Weiner. Larry’s had this car since 1984. Larry shares he worked on quite a few Chevrolets and wanted to work on another GM car but wasn’t sure what would be a good one for him. His Friend gave him a ride in his GTO, and he knew that finding a GTO would be a good one for him to work on. He found his and this is the result.

ENJOY!

Damn !!! That is the ultimate 65 GTO, I couldn’t imagine seeing another I would rather have. Like many others I’m a big 421 fan and knowing it has the 421 HO with a gear vendors 5 speed is a perfect setup. Fantastic car

This is one sweet 65 GTO. It has so many options and I am thankful the owner does such an amazing job of telling all the details that often get lost in a MCS. When I was a teenager this was the GTO that caught my attention and imagination accompanied the song GTO. I like that it has A/C, power windows, four speed, and the subtle but beautiful custom leather interior and dash. His upgrade to power disc brakes was also a real plus.
This has to be one of the best MCS.

What a truly dazzling color, this "House of Color Goldmine Pearl, " for a legendary car like the 1965 Pontiac GTO! The front end is very striking with its stacked twin headlights, the split hood air intake, the rear antenna, along with the pair of exhaust pipes slanted sideways to the rear, and those beautiful, wider, chrome hubcaps. A magnificent interior combination in gold and beige colors; in addition, the simulated wood on the steering wheel and gear shift that make the chrome parts stand out even more. The collection of brochures and manuals in the trunk is extraordinary; with very beautiful, realistic illustrations made by great illustrators of the time. Lastly, the shots you were able to take of this Pontiac were very nice; both static, with those mountains in the background, and when it was driven on those roads full of leafy trees... Congratulations to Mr. Weiner, for having this classic, with tasteful customizations, in such magnificent conditions 40 years later! Kind regards, Lou!

Lou, this is the tastiest retro-Goat I've ever seen. Man...what a setup.
The gentleman knows his stuff - very interesting to listen to his rationale.
Gr8 feature Lou. Love those canyon roads!

Wow, that paint looks fantastic! But so does the custom leather interior Mr. Weiner had installed. All the other upgrades are tastefully done too, and really make this GTO ride and handle as great as it looks. Thanks for another awesome car and awesome visit with Mr. Weiner, Lou!

I usually do not like custom restorations, but Larry has done a great job in bringing this
classic to its road ready beauty.

A true gentleman’s hot-rod. I’ve been a fan of 65 GTO’s since they were new and I was 9. Larry made very good decisions about what to change and what to keep stock; I think this is the finest 65 GTO on the planet. It also doesn’t hurt my sensibilities that it has Kentucky license plates, or that you were clearly cruising somewhere close to my birthplace, Corbin, KY. Nicely done Lou, thanks for sharing!

Perfect GTO! WOW! I knew that highway looked familiar. We lived up the road in Grants Pass before we moved to Arizona in 17. Thank you for sharing that beauty!

Beautiful GTO! A friend had one with the 389 Tri-Power and a 4spd. He was a bit afraid of it and asked me to take him for a ride and stand on it, I was already in the car waiting for him. You can literally watch the gas gauge drop. A couple of weeks later, he left it parked beside a pond, in neutral. The tow truck driver placed the hook in the lip of the trunk and ripped it wide open.

Then there was that time Buckwheat came rolling in as we were standing on a tall sand dune. We all waved him in to drive up to us. He made it to the top but as the GTO crested the summit with the front wheels in the air, the car just peeled over backward in slow motion. After the back bumper left the ground the car didn't touch earth until the roof hit the road. A '65 Goat upside down and flattened in seconds. He crawled out without a scratch. The following week he brought his sister's Gremlin down the railroad tracks. His dad owned a car lot....

Oh, wow, Lou! You just keep on delivering the hits. What a beauty. No one had style like GM in this period of the 1960's and this is clean and beautiful. The color adds to the beauty and with this being a GTO, it rock! Great job, Lou!

That is one masterpiece GOAT. Magnificently restored by Larry. Truly badass skill with artistic eyes. Gorgeous interior, too. Everything about this Pontiac GTO says performance with enviable style.

Love the color! Love the sound of the engine! Love the car!!! the side profile is grand, especially the little dip near the rear of the driver door. Never really noticed that before. I guess it's because of this fantastic paint job. Love the non-stock interior, especially the gold color on the dash. It really is grand! He made some wonderful modifications..just enough to update the car, but not change it too much. I know that engine rumble well. My next door neighbor has a 1965 GTO. Sounds very similar. I live on a dead-end street so I know whenever he is out and about in his GOAT!
