What is public interest litigation and why does it matter?

In this episode of the Freedom Update, Christine outlines a case the Canadian Constitution Foundation is intervening in on January 12 and 13. The case has to do with the test for public interest standing. Christine explains what public interest standing is, and why it matters so much for organizations like the CCF. This is a case that goes to the core of the work we do at the CCF, and we are excited to be able to make argument about this issue at the SCC.

Too bad they can't do something about WSIB. it's the worst thing that ever happened to the Canadian worker. Due to a company negligent work injury in 2008, I went from a 1350 sq foot apartment in Toronto with a 40 foot balcony, newer vehicle, a trailer up north, boat, bikes eating well and money to spare, to living in a very noisy 600 sq foot basement apartment, 18 year old disabled daughter, 11 year old son, and wife, driving a 18 year old van. The company even got WSIB to reduce my benefits saying is was a reinjury of an old injury, even thought the WSIB doctor said the injury was not related to any other injury. Almost everybody misses thier appeal date because they are recovering from operations on crazy pain killers, I was on oxy for 5 years.
Yup keep on spending money on things that nothing is going to be done about instead of things that can make a difference. You will spend a lot of money on the war act, the findinds will come and thats it. Yes, lot of finger pointing, yelling and screaming but nobody is getting fired, fined or go to jail. Same as ethics commission, another waste of money with no power to do anything.
