The NAS does not come with hard drives, and apparently requires you add a minimum of 3 drives to it (which Zappiti must then "authorize"). And then it cannot be connected directly to a TV, you must also buy a Zappiti player. So, is substantially less expensive than a Kaleidoscope system, but is not at all inexpensive. Other videos on the NAS say it can be daisy changed if you add other Zappiti NAS's, but they do not say if you can use other brands of NAS, such as Synology, nor do they say if the Zappiti NAS can also be used for other things, like storying pictures, Word documents, Excel spreadsheet files, etc.

Given that they have disabled playing directly from the NAS (you have to buy another Zappiti player to do that), Zappiti should also offer a bundle deal with their Pro player and their Asus burner drive. The Pro can accommodate two 16 Terabyte drives, has USB port that we could plug their burner into. If they put whatever software that is on the NAS to burn movies & CDs, the 32 TBs of hard drive could fit a lot of movies and/or CD's. Then it would be a great option for those of us that don't want to mess around with Hand Brake, Make MK, DVDFab, etc.

When will someone make a device you can rip and play in one system?

If i understand correctly. The NASwill back up UHDs or Blurays, but spread out over 3 HDs minimum as volumes. To play on my Zappiti 4K i need to recopy the files on another HD that i will slip into my player since this can’t play back ISO’s. Quite a long (and expensive) process.

We purchased one NAS and one mini play for a customer back in October and after dowload 150 DVD and CD started some issue with DVD not download or stay inside the DVD unit different minor issues whqt was fix by the company over the phone or remotely.
One day the internal DVD stop to work. Then zappiti sent an external DVD player and works using that device.
Days after install external DVD the CD or 📀 DVD stay inside for ever or came out in less than 3 minutes (we being told 10 to 20 minutes is normal to download a standard movie).
We have more issue to say but we are waiting for zappiti answers...I am writing this here to see if some one hqd the same issues, similar or it is only us.

Hey Shane, Can you find out whey they only have a model with 8 bays? Why not a cheaper alternative with 3 or 4?

Well the big negative is that you can't playback movies from it. Do I have to use a zapitti player or can I plug it up to a different brand?

Have you used the NAS 4K copying feature to backup one of your own discs? If so, does the movie automatically get added to the VIDEO folder and does the cover art get automatically added to the the Movie Explorer so that the cover shows up with the rest of the movie covers? Thanks.

this is cool.... 3 questions if you can...
1: Can you manually input a movie and all the information (like covers, language, etc) from a DVD-R or MPEG-4 downloaded file?
2: Can i link to another database for movie info in ADDITION to imdb (1/3rd of my collection's information would be found on HKmdb.)
3: so, Kaleidescape was forced to put the disc in the try when playing a title after "backing it up" due to copyright ruling. How does Zappiti get around this?

Wish you could access with Nvidia Shield so that you could use it like a Plex server.

Service in us is sucks. I was almost buying as soon I noticed they are lagging and very un responsive I stopped. Spending thousands and not even returning phone calls and any kind of communications that's ridiculous

At this point its just stupid how much these things cost. Get a high end PC for a thousand bucks and your rips, also you get a PC. But for some reason you meed to spend 2500 bucks to do BD rips :D awesome
