TRANSCRIPT

Hi, I'm Tahni. Welcome back to my classroom.
Today I'm going to be talking about adjectives.
Now as you may know, adjectives are words that we use to describe nouns; nouns being people, places, things, and animals.
Ok, let's get started.
First, we're going to talk about our 1-2 syllable adjectives.
So, that's words like tall, pretty, hungry, those are all 1-2 syllable words.
Ok, so here in our first example we are only talking about one thing.
Look at this picture with me.
We're only talking about "I" in this picture.
So, to describe "I" I will write, "tall" "I am tall."
Ok, we're just talking about "I" in this sentence.
And our second example, we're going to be comparing two things: "I" and "the car"
So, "I am" we'll write in our adjective "taller than the car."
Ok, when we compare two things, we add "er" to our adjective and then "than" after the adjective.
"I am taller than the car."
Ok now if we're going to talk about three or more things, this structure is how we would do so.
I am the (our adjective is tall)
"I am the tallest of the three."
And that would work with any one to two syllable adjectives.
For example, if you wanted to use "hungry"
"I am hungry."
"I am hungrier than the car."
"I am the hungriest of the three."
Ok, now let's go over to our 3 or more syllable adjectives.
This is for words like beautiful. "beau-ti-ful" three syllables
intelligent. "in-tell-i-gent" four syllables
We cannot use this structure(1-2 syllable structure) for those words.
So, this is how we do so.
For just describing one thing, its the same.
"The flower is" and lets go with "beautiful"
"The flower is beautiful." Thats the same.
When we get in to comparing two things, it changes.
Here we're going to compare the flower to this painting.
"The flower is more beautiful than the painting."
Ok, so here instead of using "er" we've put "more" before the adjective.
Now for comparing three things, one, two, three, the flower, the painting, and the book, we would say,
"The flower is the most beautiful of them all."
Ok, so the difference between the last one: instead of using "est" we've put "most"
Well, that's all for today. Thank your for studying with me, Tahni.
