Very respectful and peaceful though he disbelieves—the world needs more respect and peace like this!

I am a critic of religion but never of the religious. The vast, overwhelming majority of people never had a choice about becoming religious. It's not their fault.

But we should be frank and recognize that religion is based on faith on premises without evidence. Science is based on reason and evidence-based premises.
They are incompatible. History proves which one leads us to a better understanding of the real world.

I wake up everyday and aspire to be as balanced in intelligence, humility, and love as Brian Cox ❤

For those who want to track down the quote he mentions: the author’s name is John Updike (not Updit).

If only our politicians were as intelligent and as diplomatic.

Religion poisons everything but Cox is right to stand clear, its a morass. Question everything and aim to think critically.

I respect his view on it. I think though once you get to a certain point in science religion is inevitable ! Because most of the time science can break down or stop but once you start looking through a religious lens it reopens that scientific door that closed. And vice versa people who are uber religious and don't believe in science is not looking at the whole picture correctly ! My point is you truly can't have one without the other. Most scientists believe in God and the ones who don't they still don't rule it out ! They have open minds to say well this can be true or real. If you are a person of science and you strictly rule out the possibility of God and religion you are not a scientist at all.

Perfect response, religion is history, but history is not science.

Do You think, Theology is the same as Religion, an Cosmology, is the same as Theology?

Okay, but it's not finally about terror/comfort; it's about scientific cosmology being true and religion being false.

I don't give a damn what religious people think of science ... So why ask every scientist what they think of religion?

He is right, but unfortunately religion is not a benign force, it is evil and has caused/been used to create the most harm int he world

Religion is NOT part of science (like the title of the video asks). But it's part of the human history.
I even venture the hypothesis that religion is the first pillar of society. I think it is possible that the first time a guy with great convincing skills told their village the big spirit of the river required a temple to keep providing sustenance to their plants, it started a common effort, collaborative instead of competitive, layered organization. I think the reason almost every ancient civilization discovered had shown evidence of some kind of religion, is because most humans who didn't find this common belief remained hunter-gatherers.

Some say, God, became, before science, but, You Think that, God is science?

Think about why are you living and where did you come from? You are in test in the world due a short time. Ultimately the creator ( Alloh) will calculate every one.

It's a purely psychological phenomenon
