Feminist writer, author and activist Gloria Steinem said on Aug. 18 that the women’s rights movement has “a long way to go” before full equality between men and women is achieved in American society. “We still don't fully have the right to our own bodies,” said Steinem, referencing the ongoing legislative fights over abortion in the U.S. “I think we have yet to understand the rights that the female half of the human race need as females.” Steinem spoke with PBS NewsHour anchor and managing editor Judy Woodruff on the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed American women the right to vote.
