Optimization Process
Client and Server Architecture: It uses the network to separate the client and the server. The user interface runs on the client and data is stored & managed by server. The client contains application logic and presentation logic; the server contains the transaction and data processing logic.
Client Connections: The client application requests a connection to a server. Client application connects to the server across the network using a database access method. The SAP ASE network handler task wakes when contacted and performs username and password authentication. The server allocates a unused user connection and creates a user task. The server assigns a kernel process ID (kpid) and a server process ID (spid) for the user task and places it on the sleep queue. A signal is sent back to the client to indicate a successful connection.
