BEST Irwin Vice-Grip Pliers for Nuts and Bolts

I've used countless types of locking pliers / vice-grips through the years and a lot of them are designed to bite in with small teeth which marks up and sometimes destroys the nut / bolt, especially if it slips. The small teeth on flat jaw pliers can't hold much rotational force either, they can clamp two things together but they don't like being twisted.

These Irwin's solve both of those issues. Non-marring jaw design that clamps down and surrounds the fastener not allowing it to slip.

In my experience, if you're using vice grips on a nut or a bolt, it's either an in the field situation where It's future use problem or The fasteners fucked anyway and you're trying to get it out

My wife was walking past and heard straight jaws and toothy gals and said, ''I didn't know he knew your ex''

These are amazing guys, seriously… I can absolutely attest to how useful they are. They’re not fast, but they’ve saved my track day more times than I can count with softer fasteners. It costs you like $50 to put all 3 in your toolbox, can’t recommend them enough.

Ove had a set of these Irwin vice grips for a few years now, not only do they grip round type fasteners great they also have a great end pinch grip. Perfect for pulling out broken nails that barely stick out.

I've had one of those for more than 20 years. They're really nice for air fittings and things where you have to hold both sides, you can lock them on to one side and hold the assembly for you while you turn the other.

I cut 1'' sections off a bicycle inner tube and leave em on the handle of my various vice grips, if anything needs to stay pretty I use the rubber as a buffer inbetween the teeth and the work, has served me well for a couple of decades. Ill keep an eye out for this style tho I can definitely see multiple uses for this jaw design, pretty cool.

I did buy my first set of those 20+ years ago. And of course they still workgreat. Best way to grab a brake line nut.

Number one tool for show car builders!

Use a socket for that. Vise grips have teeth because the fastener is already destroyed and that's why you pulled out the vise grips.

But it's cool that they made that.

I'll grab a pair of those Irwins when I see them. Overall, I prefer the straight jaws for versatility. I successfully crushed a ganglion cyst on my wrist last month with the straight jaws. I have great medical insurance, though the Irwins saved a trip to the Doc. Maybe they prevented an infection if it was excised.

I used to have an antique pair of adjustable pliers. It was 2 pieces of metal and you loosened and tightened with a wing nut which makes so much more sense than a dial

Great to carry if you ride a motorcycle. Can get you out of a jam big time if you bust something, such as the shift lever....
