Yeah this makes perfect sense, melanin doesn’t really make 100% pitch black there’s usually an undertone colour so dying you hair black increases the saturation and in this particular case, your hair has naturally red undertones and most jet black hair dyes have a blue undertone making it appear cooler and more crisp
