I was in Tokyo today from the U.S. for the Tokyo series between the Dodgers and Cubs, as an aquarist this man inspired me to become an aquascapist. despite the fact that it was snowing…yes snowing for a couple hours I didn’t miss the chance to visit this masterpiece at the Sumida Aquarium and let me just tell u, I WAS BLOW AWAY!!!…if u r ever in Tokyo do not miss the opportunity to see this for yourself, I have no words to articulate this masterpiece…what I will say is it is the Mona Lisa of aquascaping, I salute you Mr. Amano what a gift to the world.

I'm so sad lots of people misunderstood this guy as an arrogant person.
His a real artist who puts dignity and pride of his works.
He really knows whats the best.

He truly is a master of his arts. He knows exactly how and where and why plants will grow or won't and how the setup will look balanced. I truly admire him!
And I don't think he is being rude. As others stated before, he has a vision and he would jeopardise his good reputation if he would let small mistakes happen.

Takashi Amano was an absolute genius in this field. It's sad to think that only 2 years after this project was completed, he passed away. RIP Takashi

He's a perfectionist. He wwants things just right and will assert himself as the boss to be sure he gets it.

You really can't understand it without some insight into Japanese culture. They take a lot of pride in what they do so to accept work that isn't up to his standard would be contrary to their nature.

you guys, mr. amano is just telling people what he wants done since he can't do it all by himself. he is an artist. so, just imagine this, you guys, that you are an artist--say a painter. so, you are painting by yourself. the stuff you are telling yourself as you paint your picture is the same thing that mr. amano is doing. except he has to communicate it to an army, instead of just himself. i don't think he is even being bossy. and i consider him the boss in the aquarium world.

When something is in YOUR own head, its hard to get it into someone else's unless you do it yourself, which is what he did when he was younger. This man has great vision, to you 'treats his helpers like shit'. They wouldnt be helping if he was difficult, creating ugly tanks.
