Scaphism, one of the worst execution methods, originated in ancient Persia. The victim was placed between two boats with only their head, arms, and legs exposed. Covered in honey and force-fed milk, they were left to bake in the sun on a lake. Insects, drawn to the sweetness, would swarm, devouring the victim over days or weeks, as they slowly rotted from the inside out—a truly horrific and prolonged death.
