I wish they still put this much thought and passion into special effects these days. Movies like Aliens, Star Wars and Terminator 2 still hold up today because of it.

Stan winston and his fx artists can turn this prototype made of trashbags and puppet rods into one of the most memorable creatures in all of cinema,

Am glad they put the time in to get the movements Cameron was looking for just right before she was ready for prime time, the movement is one of those things that they really needed to get right and I think they did it! ^_^

Alien and Aliens are classics. I prefer practical special effects over the over use of CGI which is prevalent in movies these days.

I suspected that there was an ultra lightweight version of the Alien Queen in the movie. There's a single shot, at the bottom of the airlock under the power loader, that she looks completely different in.

can somebody please tell me how did they make bishop's upper body move on the floor in the airlock/queen alien scene in 'Aliens'? i read that the effect artists used dummy for it and the actor was underneath. but how the actor could move with the dummy when there was no hole on the floor??? it looked so believable.
