The articles that filipino freedom fighters wrote demanding independence from US are badass and heavily underrated while they were intentionally written in English. That being said I was reading about nationalism and national identity and I discovered that the Dutch were very close to seizing down Manilla and annexing the Spanish colony of phillipines so we could have had a Dutch Phillipines which would be super strange.
