'The Breen Attack on Earth' Battlespace: The Dominion War

On the 1st of October 2375 the Breen enter the Dominion War! Marking their entry with a devastating suprise attack on Earth itself. As the capital of the United Federation of Planets Earth has enjoyed over 200 years of safety and security as the fortress of the federation. The Breen attack now throws doubt on to their prior assumptions of security. forever changing the attitudes of the people of earth.
but how precisely did the breen carry out this audacious attack? and why was starfleet seemingly so ineffective in protecting their very capital?

Just remember, even though the Breen got through the formidable defenses on earth, they literally got their asses handed to them. Oh, and helpfully pointed out the weakness of earth's defenses.

Loved how the Breen both proved and disproved the notion that Earth was unassailable

An attacking force which doesn't care about getting out alive can accomplish objectives beyond their nominal strength. No-one had attacked Earth in centuries precisely *because* it was a suicide mission. The Breen decided they didn't care.

Quite the eventful battlespace.

THe Breen attack on Earth and Starfleet HQ is the Star Trek version of Pearl Harbor.

I am reminded of the moment the Founder at the second battle of Chintoka ordered Wayun not to target escape pods.
I mean sure that would have been a war crime. But her reasoning was deeply flawed. She believed that they were broken. And Wayun was as always a yes man.
Those crews got rescued got new ships and were back on the line looking for payback.

And at one point, In STO timeline, for some reason, a few flights of Breen ships plus a command ship, somehow got destroyed. The battle removed all traces of a temporal flux.

You really have to love the idea of the Federation's defense plan, despite being largely pacifist they practice what can only be described as a defense in depth strategy where an attacker can only purchase a star system after paying dearly for it.

I got a pitch for ya. The Yeager class is a purpose built cloak hunter specifically designed to sniff out ships under cloak, stationed at DS9 specifically to guard the wormhole. Sorta like an anti submarine destroyer.

Those images of a wrecked San Francisco incensed the entire Federation. Also probably likely that the fighter pilot was awarded the Starfleet Medal of Honor for saving San Francisco from further destruction.
