As of this moment, the wonderful electric grandmother moved into the lives of children and father. She became integral and important. She became the essence. As of this moment, they would never see lightning, never hear poetry read, never listen to foreign tongues without thinking of her. Everything they would ever see, hear, taste, feel would remind them of her. She was all life, and all life was wondrous, quick, electrical – like Grandma.

Helping with childcare is not the only benefit a grandmother has also accumulated knowledge and experience which is then passed down to all the female members of the family unit, the same applies to grandfather's and males, it cannot be a coincidence that the lack influence of decidedly has coincided with a divorce rate of around 50% which is now a self perpetuating trend

Grandmothers survival rate has increased only in the last 2, 000 years or even less. This is because of advancement of bio-technology and because of security given from the agricultural era. So I don't really think this is related to evolution as the latter is millions years aged. Mortality rate decreased in infants because of the same reason the longevity rate increased in elderly, this is a confounded variable.

This isn't what makes us the "most advanced" on Earth. Killer whales have grandmothers too.
