Hip bone anatomy lesson of pelvic girdle: The hip bones (also called innominate bones, os coxae, coxal bones, or pelvic bones) form part of the appendicular skeleton.

Those bones provide protection for the pelvic organs, provide a place for muscle and ligament attachment, and connect the lower limbs of the appendicular skeleton to the sacrum of the axial skeleton.

The hip bones (pelvic girdle) are made of three bones that began as independent bones but later fused to form one solid bone: The ilium, ischium, and pubis.

This video will cover the following landmarks on these hip bones of the pelvis:

1. Tubercle of Iliac Crest
2. Iliac Crest
3. Ala (wing) of the Ilium
4. Posterior Superior Iliac Spine
5. Posterior Inferior Iliac Spine
6. Anterior Superior Iliac Spine
7. Anterior Inferior Iliac Spine
8. Greater Sciatic Notch
9. Ischial Spine
10. Lesser Sciatic Notch
11. Ischial Body
12. Ischial Tuberosity
13. Ischial Ramus
14. Inferior Ramus of Pubis
15. Body of Pubis
16. Acetabulum
17. Auricular Surface
18. Iliac Fossa
19. Arcuate Line
20. Superior Ramus of Pubis
21. Obturator Foramen
22. Pubic Symphysis
23. Pubic Crest
24. Pubic Tubercle
25. Pubic Arch

Thanks for the video. Growing up on a swine farm as a child with a lot of physical labor involved. I've always had problems with hip problems and myofascial pelvic pain. A chiropractor helps some but the pain comes back with just doing everyday housework. Thanks

I came to watch because I am pregnant and my pubic girdle cracks when I do specific movements. It’s very painful btw but this video helped me understand the anatomy much better. I guess it helps that I have a medical background too.

I fractured my right acetabulum in an accident.
Believe me it lets you know something is going on.
It healed well and is fine now. When it broke I felt a squish never felt before.
A blow to the upper thigh transferred via femur ball to socket and caused fractures.
