My issue is that if I was 12 and cheated in an online chess game and then at 30 had worked for years and years to get better it wouldn't really be fair to call me a cheater at that point

This situation reminds me of Lance Armstrong in cycling, he couldn’t win local US races and suddenly won 5 Tour de France races like it was nothing, after years of him adamantly denying that he was cheating finally under the threat of prosecution one of his team mates finally came forward to tell the truth. You should have seen all Lance’s fan boys that attacked viciously anyone that was suspicious of Lance. Anything that is too good to be true……….!

If you look at the continuous eye movement shows nervousness and apart of that he likes to look to the left a lot on screen magnus saw this and resigned from losing to a cheater

I find it interesting how ppl ignore hans' radio silence about the accusations and puts more attention on the way magnus reacts (..especially the way he acted when he beat magnus, altbough you could attribute that to his quirky personality)

ok so even if there isn’t direct evidence of neimann cheating his rate of improvement is suspicious - unless he is literally the best chess player of all time. idk but it’s actually very difficult to prove somebody cheated in chess - the evidence of cheating is often not there at the time but will emerge. magnus has lost before and knows how to handle a loss - he has stated that he believes niemann’s behaviour was suspicious. now don’t get me wrong, i respect kasparov but i don’t think his comments on this are sufficiently informed. he is entitled to his opinions and to express those opinions, but i think that they were far too strongly-worded considering he is an outside observer. i think any chess player, particularly those who play at a professional level, should be able to express concerns (provided statements are not defamatory) about and be upset by the prospect of cheating. that being said, i do believe that carlsen acted immaturely here - unless i am missing something. i don’t know why he would agree to play against niemann only to then resign - that is unfair and unprofessional. that being said, carlsen has since seemed apologetic about this incident and it is understandable that he would be upset playing, particularly playing online, against niemann - who he considers a cheater.

I don’t know much about chess other than being a novice player. Why can’t they have a match in person (not a live stream). Since Hans is being accused, he has to win to prove himself or at least draw.
