You’re not alone. Tools like Sass can help us write code faster and more consistently—big benefits for any workflow. But adding complexity can also add problems—and create barriers to entry by making people think they need all of this stuff just to get started. 

In this session, we’ll help you navigate the changing world of CSS by discussing questions like:  

- Preprocessors, postprocessors, transpilers: what does all this terminology really mean? 
- Are we complicating a simple language?
- Why might you want to use a preprocessor? Why not? 
- When are they more work than they’re worth?
- Is it possible to be a front-end developer without using these tools?
