I see a bunch of comments in here. This is my father and I racing. The z28 was cut up in the 80s and put on big tires. It does have a big block in it with a glide we were trying to iron out some issues with the car and trying to get it running right when we got the car it had been sitting for a long time and needed a ton of tlc we finely got it running enough to drive and younger excited me immediately wanted to race him in my 2010 camaro ss we decided to race them just for the heck of it. The 2010 camaro isnt a v6 like some are asking its a full bolt on cammed stick shift car. I can't remember if it had a gear in it at the time but we still own both vehicles. He told me I could take the hit and I figured I needed it 😂

The classic is still cooler regardless if it wins or not.

I still prefer the styling of 64 to 72 cars over anything today

The best thing about this race was no matter the outcome a Camaro won. 🏆

Win or lose, I'm old school to the bone. Not as brand loyal as I used to be back in the day, though. Bringing back the ol skool musclecars of old began with the introduction of the Fox body Mustang with the Fuel Injected 220-230hp 5.0L small block (302ci for the older guys). Finally, much later, came the new retro Dodge Challenger with the new long-awaited Hemi motor. Dodge Chargers came next with the Hemi Power and some stealthy Hi Performance Jeeps showed up as well. Retro Camaros showed up quite late to the party, but all in all, the market for Ol Skool Retro musclecars has brought the spotlight on the Original Ol Musclecars as well. Remember 2 Fast 2 Furious had those rice burner tuner cars racing the ol skool 1969 Yenko Camaro and the 1970 Dodge Challenger? That was one of the MOST exciting parts of the movie for me, IMHO !! I don't HATE, I appreciate. There's something out there for everyone, and what's old becomes new, and vice versa. Street Outlaws on Discovery Channel brought back a lot of attention to ol skool hot rodding and racing; all for the good of street car enthusiast.

That is a slowest big tire camaro I have ever seen in my life, , , , is it powered by a dodge motor?

Legend has it, they still haven’t made it to the finish line.

Dude in the 2010 was simply on the throttle pop, dude in the '69 was late. This was more a case of which driver was more accurate, rather than which car was faster. Need 2 more hits to tell the story. Both nice rides though.

To me that 69 ran strong, not bad for old school technology!!! Go! 69!!

That 69 is a 4 wheel version of a harley - loud and slow

Nothing like the roar of old american muscle..
Just like hydro boats.
Old merlin piston power versus turbine boat. The roar is what keeps it alive.😂❤❤❤❤

Love those big 50 series (?) back tires on the vintage Camaro.

Anyone trashing the newer car...why would you expect that technology hasn't improved over the period of 40+ years?
These days, low 12's or high 11's is very easily attainable in a nearly stock car. Suspension has greatly improved as well.
I'm not trashing the '69 at all. In fact, the older ride blows the newer one out of the water in cosmetics. But, the LSx engine platform is pretty amazing in what it can do in stock trim as well as with power mods.

God, I don’t care how badly it did, that 1969 sounded amazing. Just idling you could hear the 302-cid v8 so well

Like others on this thread, I am totally an old-school guy. While they were getting ready to launch, I noticed the super wide tires on the rear end and the racing wheels and narrow tires on the front of the old-school Camaro and noted how modified it must be versus what looks like a showroom, new Camaro. I was stunned and amazed when the new one beat it from start to finish. Like others on here I still like the old one, but I’m still stunned and amazed. The new one won. Nuff Said.
