It's gratifying to know that character transfer likely won't be disabled like last time, since idk when I'd even be able to get a next-gen console, lol

I'm very skeptical that character transfers will go as well as the say it will. It's a huge technical undertaking. I'm gonna see what others are reporting first and hold off a day or two before making the jump.

To anyone who doesn't remember back in PS3/Xbox 360 it was possible to transfer your character on the PS4/Xbox One however by 2016 it was removed due to the amount of modded accounts from the older consoles. I am concerned that if PS4/Xbox One have modded accounts rockstar might remove it again just stop it on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, which is funny because there are still modders going out of control on the PC Version and yet Rockstar doesn't seem to care.

Thanks for this…I was hearing on other channels that if you transfer your online character from PS4 to PS5 then the character is completely gone and inaccessible from PS4. It makes more sense that it will still be there but any future progress will be confined to whichever console you’re using at the time…like having your character in two parallel universes.

Shame though guess I won't be able to have my character with everything on both next gen consoles but oh well. Can always play my main on Xbox & occasionally use the PS one with all the free millions they gave out the past few months.

Not being able to transfer your PC progress is cringe, my wealth is legit and rather than fixing the modders issue Rockstar again separates one platform from the other and once again double crosses one group from the other. Either let everyone transfer over or make everyone start off new.

To those who believe they won't close the character transfers.

Last time they closed the transfers it was due to mods funneling money which threatened their shark cards.


What threatens their shark cards now? Money glitches such as dupes which will most likely come to a permanent halt come this next gen variant. That gives them more incentive to limit transfers.

If they are so worried about modded account why don’t they make it where the account has to be 2 years old or more in order to transfer. To be extra safe any accounts made after the transfer are unable to transfer.

I found a new way to make solo public sessions: just hop over to next gen. Nobody's in a hurry to buy new gen consoles, so I can imagine more public lobbies will be less populous, let alone empty.
