The Grand Tour's Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond & James May pitted British delicacies against food from around the world in LADbible's Snack Wars.

The three presenters necked Japanese sake, British pork pies, Mexican Takis and even attempted to eat a Chinese century egg.

Century egg is a duck egg preserved in clay, ash, salt, and quicklime, (traditional methods used black tea and clay with the eggs wrapped in rice husks) usually for seven weeks. They turn brown in the alkaline solution due to the Maillard effect, the same reason meat goes from red to brown when you cook it. Generally speaking they aren't eaten straight up, i like it with congee, though some times it's served with ginger, garlic, and soy sauce.

Those are originally Chinese not Cambodian. In the wrong context blue cheese can be treated the same way. Also it's not a Cambodian thing. It's like saying scones is American because one shop makes it in America. To be fair please let them try some gourmet stinky cheese. He might have gotten from Cambodia but it's actually massed produced. And can be easily found everywhere in South East Asia.

Hammond has my respect. He at the very least, gave it a looksie and a smell. He was curious. Curiosity in other cultures is how we learn. He didn’t try it but he at least went to the extent of learning more about it. AND, NO, IT DOES NOT HAVE SPERM IN IT. 😅

Jeremy Clarkson is the kind of man to be offered a scotch egg and call it foreign muck

Lots of things smell bad but taste good. Many cheeses smell like fart but taste great for example

Many people didn’t like the smell, but the creamy texture and taste is so rich and tasty

I've eaten century eggs in Japan and I have to say they taste quite mild and don't have a strong smell. It's just the looks

I tried liking it but it just isn’t for me. I’ll just stick to salted eggs

They dont even taste that bad, just like a slightly eggier egg.

These century eggs are delicious, usually eaten with tofu or porridge

They're delicious as an addition to congee. Would not eat by itself. If you like blue cheese you might like it. Same edge to the flavor that doesn't work.
