these two performed excellently in the live broadcast today. I felt Donna Anna's righteous rage and totally bought the sweet yet resolute chivalry of Ottavio.

Sometime ago I was looking for a great rendition of "L'heure Exquise" by Venezuelan composer Reynaldo Hahn and came across Ben Bliss' rendition, which simply mesmerized me. I knew that he would make it far, and here he is, no less than with The Metropolitan. Not surprised at all. Great talented tenor.

I see that Bliss is wearing Beczala’s Lohengrin outfit: untucked, long-sleeve, white shirt over dark slacks, borrowed, in turn, from the earlier Parsifal. I suppose that it makes sense to save $ by recycling outfits, given that the Met’s costume department is nowadays preoccupied with indulging the hideously vulgar tastes of their Design (oops, Music) Director.
