Learn Finnish: Language Learning Apps | KatChats

Hi!

So this video's purpose is to give a bit of a starting point if you're wanting to start learning Finnish and have no idea how to go about doing it. These are some of the apps I would personally use if I were to try learning Finnish!

If you already know some Finnish, you could read or listen to "selkokieliset uutiset", it's news in really easy Finnish, not difficult words or long difficult sentences, it should be easier to understand :) you can find them easily on the internet, and if you wan to listen to them, there's also subtitles so you can read them at the same time as you are listening to it, and they speak a little slower too. And there are also books that are written like that, in easier and more understandable way, they're called "selkokieliset kirjat" or "selkokirjat". I just thought these might be helpful for some people that are trying to learn more Finnish, but if they feel like normal news or movies or books are too difficult for them!

Another app (and this is not and phone app, you can use it on your computer too - but also on your phone) is " Loecsen " .You can choose one of many languages (MANY languages), and then you have like " lessons " I guess, such as essentials, conversation, learning, colors, looking for someone, etc, and then you play the word so it says how a native speaker would say the word.After every lesson you take a quiz to see how good you've been so far and you get points (so, depending on a language, it can be ?/28, ?/15, etc.) Thanks to that, I know can understand Czech language real good like I can read anything in Czech, so now I'm learning Bulgarian and It's so easy to learn yet it really does the thing!

If you have an apple device you can also Use the podcast app and look up specific Finnish podcasts to help you learn slang/sayings after you’ve learned some of the basics

Memrise and HelloTalk are available on Android :)

I just installed Android app of memorise and it doesn't have Finnish language to learn and neither do I find any " other " language options. This app was my favourite while learning Chinese..

I've been using Memrise for some months, it's nice to get some vocabulary (to memorize some words). I've been trying Hello Talk for a couple of days, but it seems that Finns are not up for portuguese. ;P

Very helpful video :) I've just downloaded Memrise, too. The audio voice is quite funny XD
What does 'bussi' at 2:37 mean? I guess it could mean 'bus' and not 'kiss' as in German.
