Mooer Ocean Machine 2 // FIRST SOUNDS // NO TALKING

Got an early delivery of the @MooerAudioOfficial Ocean Machine II, a collaboration with @dvntownsend, mostly because Paul brought it to my attention, and well, 2 delays and a reverb in one? He gets me. The original version came out during my little hiatus from playing, so I kinda missed the memo. This time around, I figured why not give it a shot!?

What you have here is a LONG first sounds video (the longest one yet maybe?) That’s because this pedal can do a LOT! We start here by going through the 24 presets on board. Then we check out the 9 reverbs and 18 delays one by one.

I intentionally didn’t read the manual, so there’s a couple of spots here and there where I’m trying to figure out how to get where I want, but ultimately a fairly intuitive control system. The main menu knob does a lot. You turn it. You press it. You turn and press it at the same time. You’ll see what I mean.

I didn’t get into the looper, but apparently this one can do a 120 second loop! That’s pretty impressive,

I will say that the box isn’t that big, but it weighs a lot! Might be my heaviest pedal, so you may have to go to the gym and do some workouts.

The craziest thing about this pedal is that you can change the delay/reverb type and effect order _while the delays are repeating._ Devin uses this to create the most insane ambient washes. Watch his demo of it on the That Pedal Show episode. It's nuts.

Why I will never buy this pedal again:

1) Immediately after the purchase, a bug was discovered. He just passed out while trying to destroy my speakers
2) The reverb quality of the OM1 was depressing
3) MIDI did not work as it should
4) The worst thing is that in stereo mode the pedal greatly narrowed the stereo base of other stereo pedals and also distorted the phase
5) I heard compression of the signal, which killed the attack and transients of the guitar playing

At the same time, everyone – the pedal is very creative. For a very long time I did not dare to remove her from the chain. But the desire for high-quality sound won. Now I'm wary of OM2

What is the signal chain here? The guitar tone sounds great but there are some clicks in the audio.

So I think the delays in this are fantastic, but I feel like all the reverb algorithms are really bright and lack body, depth and control over some strong effects. Such as spring having weird modulation on the initial note, or over strong dispertion effects. I've had the R7x2 and the reverbs were better on that and rhe depals are better on this than the Mooer D7x2. I'm pretty disappointed myself. I haven't plugged it into a computer to see if i can fix that, have you?
