Greta Thunberg leads COP26 protest march at Glasgow summit

Friday at COP26 saw protests on the streets of Glasgow organised by Fridays for Future, the movement inspired by teenage activist Greta Thunberg and her long-running school strike. Thunberg spoke to the crowds at the end of the march, saying, "This is no longer a climate conference. This is now the Global North Greenwash Festival. A two-week long celebration of business as usual and blah blah blah."

a lot of people dont seem to understand that eliminating fossil fuels out of the world economy is not possible because as a modern society we depend on fossil fuels for everything food, transportation, agriculture, light, technology, cars, manufacturing so eliminating fossil fuels will cause billions of people and jobs to be lost

In this instance she's not wrong but Greta herself is also greenwashing. She doesn't address the root of the problem and she doesn't have any solutions. All she ever does is Blablabla. And until she puts Chinese industry or decentralization of power on her agenda, that's all she'll ever do. But this isn't about the environment. This is about upbringing, attention seeking and a path not so different from the kids on Tiktok and later Onlyfans.
