From The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan and producer Trevor Macy comes THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, the next highly anticipated chapter of The Haunting anthology series, set in 1980s England. After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T’Nia Miller). But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn’t mean gone.

Producing partners Flanagan and Macy drew from the iconic supernatural stories of Henry James, to create the ensemble drama which also stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, and Tahirah Sharif. The series is executive produced by Flanagan and Macy for Intrepid Pictures, along with Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television.

I was so sad when the kids didn't remember dani. Because she died saving their lives

Apparently the dollhouse isn’t magical (I first thought that when I watched it!), it’s the child ghost who Flora befriended moving the dolls around to warn her where all the ghosts are

When Dani trips over the Viola doll on the floor, it might be foreshadowing but it means she is no longer in the lake and is out wandering. Hence why the kids lock Dani in the closet so that she doesnt get in Viola's way

when Hannah tells Henry to tell Owen "I love him and the rest is just..." was a nod to Nell's speech in the red room about confetti

Early in the series, Mrs. Grose lit 4 candles in the chapel "for the dead" but we only knew 3 people were dead, the parents and Ms. Jessel. She was already dead too.

When Dani's eye changed colour, Jamie only ever looks in her blue eye! There is a really obvious scene where she is looking at Dani but only in one eye!

I thought the little boy that Flora gave the face to was the one moving the dolls in the house around to let Flora know when it was safe

The Dani and the Doll one is wrong. When she stumbles into the doll, it's because the lady of the lake is on her way to the house. That's why the kids lock her in the closet. Otherwise, she'd be in the hallway when the lady of the lake gets inside.

another thing is when Flora is sketching over the graves with paper after she runs inside and tells Hannah Dani said Flora wet her pants Flora says she’ll do the next grave in her eye color, blue, and after Dani takes the paper and walks off it’s revealed to be Viola’s grave and foreshadows i barely caught it but i thought it was so clever

also after the sleepover and Hannah walks Miles to bed he says “i had an awful dream that i hurt you” and it’s so subtle but it’s when he killed Hannah when he was possessed and he’s barely remembering it

i also do feel like Dani symbolized as moonflower fit so much i mean short lived but beautiful

Also Danny is locked in the closet because she is gay and hasn’t fully come out yet.

I just finished this show and the ending had me messed up😭 I’m so sad. I thought the whole show was a masterpiece. The backstories and it kept me intrigued

I knew Mars Grose was s ghost, she never ate. The only thing that messed that theory up for me was when she was drinking wine in a later episode.

i loved the way the start of the show (jamie waking up, checking the bathtub, etc) is continuation of all the actions that she did in the end - an endless loop, “tucked away” in a memory yet a memory
that loops itself right back to where it started, keeping the bly manor story
alive.

I love how Flanagan always pays homage to the writers of each adaptation by naming a character the same. Shirley from Hill House and Henry from Bly respectively.

In the night the flowers on the table in the main entrance would turn to a urn, or when something creepy was happening.

Also, when the teacher/priest in the boarding school was telling a biblical story of demons needing permission to enter the swine and the swine then drowned in a lake is reminiscent of the ghosts needing permission to stay in someone else permanently. It especially reminds me of when Jamie tries to ask permission in the water when she sees Dani dead at the bottom of the lake.

In episode 6, you literally see the ghost boy moving the figures in the mini manor. It is not enchanted!

When Flora says “I’m too old, the math doesn’t work” when she realizes she’s being tucked away, it’s also about how she’s too old to be Dominic’s child. That got me thinking because Flora might also know about her mom’s relationship with Henry (she saw him getting dressed in Charlotte’s room) and it would be a great pain if she realizes she’s the child from a love affair.
