The Downfall of China's Luxury Influencers | Vantage with Palki Sharma

In the ever-evolving landscape of social media, where influencers craft their personas and cultivate followings by showcasing their lifestyles, few stories are as compelling and cautionary as that of Wang Hongquanxing. Known to his millions of followers as "China’s Kim Kardashian," Wang's meteoric rise to fame was fuelled by his unabashed displays of wealth and luxury. Wang's infamous claim that he never left his home without wearing at least $1.4 million worth of jewellery and clothing became emblematic of his persona. While such statements endeared him to some of his followers, they also attracted the ire of the authorities. He has now been kicked off the country’s most popular online platforms because internet censorship authorities disapproved of his posts showing off his luxury clothes and high-end jewellery. Why is China cracking down on luxury influencers? Our next report tells you.

When society faced economic difficulties, you must not allow celebrities to flaunt excessive wealth .
Social harmony is important.
In USA, the rich are richer and flaunt their wealth.
The poor lived homeless.

Many steps taken by Chinese authority are good, like restrictions on real estate, limiting hours of online education and now this.
Show off of wealth is really a toxic thing to do and such things should be banned

Those influencers act as ultra rich but in reality they’re just part of the marketing tools of media companies behind it. India can have them all😂

The description and implementation of China's moral culture to the influencers is the right steps taken by the government. Bad manners and evil behaviours should not be promoted nor protected. Cultural and customs values of societies should be protected by the government. In this crackdown, i support Chinese government for taking the lead.

As an Indonesian I agree with this China policy.
Here in Indonesia these kind of luxury influencer have been arrested for fraud and scam.

There isn't a lot that I would agree with China, but I feel like a majority of us would get behind this decision
