I LOVE that look Leon gets in his eyes when he hears that great voice of Waylon take extreme ownership of the old Hank song. Then he looks over at Willie and without saying anything they both say everything. Willie smiles and basically what I get from it is "pretty fucking great huh?"

Then Leon tugs Waylon's shirt as to say "Hell yeah".

I saw Willie and Leon in concert, probably about 1979.

My dad used to sing this to my mum, playing the banjo. Her name was Irene.

Leon studied classical for 10 yrs, including horns. Born with a cervical disability affecting his right side, leg and hand, hence his cane. He developed his own style. He recorded 430 records, grammys and Church Studios now a museum. Leon is legend, master of space and time. ❤️ 🔥

Now I understand why Waylon called him the most expensive harmony singer in the world.

The "Weavers" version in 1950 was actually #1 on the charts.

Leon smiled with his eyes only, but very subtle, if he didn’t look like he wanted to kill you, that’s his smile. 😢
