I didn't know they had ANY stores left. I remember in the 2000's when they transitioned into a 'cell phone' store. Classic tale of losing a market and not transitioning or re-inventing your product or service. I noticed they had very little if any current or new RS branded merch. I used to buy a TON of batteries and electronic components there. They had some killer batteries. Just yesterday I needed some AAA batteries. Hunted around my house and found an OLD remote for something and it had some gold Enercell batteries. Still had a full charge! Must have been at least 13-15 years old.

Our Radio Shack's, we had three, closed several years ago. Over the years I purchased many items there and I never went in that they weren't busy. I don't understand why they closed. It wasn't for a lack of business, here in Danville, Va anyway!

My wife and I go to a lot of yard, tag garage sales, estate sales etc. I usually scoop up any old radio shack packaged transistors, capacitors, diodes etc when I come across them.

It really is a shame! There are virtually no stores that sell electronics components off the shelf in a brick and mortar store... You can order everything online, but sometimes you just need one resistor, or capacitor, or transistor to fix a problem and get the job done the same day... So you are stuck waiting for something to arrive in the mail...
