I and a friend got to spend a few hours with Mr Squire in 1998 after a concert . He was great company and, as a bass player who grew up idolizing him, it was in unforgettable experience . We had a great time ! What a gentleman.

I went to several YES life concerts and by far the player fans appreciated the most was Chris. He would be engaging with people in the audience and at the end of shows he stayed around to greet and talk to fans. Great guy, sorely missed.

Chris was great at composing contrary motion to the lines the other Yes members played. He was a very strong and unique voice in modern bass.❤

Chris Squire inspired me to take up the bass, i bought a second hand Ricky 4001 in 1978. He to me was the Jimi Hendrix of bass!!

Chris is my favorite musician of all time. He was such a giant in so many ways. I will never forget the experience of having my fairly large hand swallowed in his when we met and shook hands. It's a treasured memory. I love all of your selections. Thank you for keeping Chris alive in our hearts and minds.

One of the best things about getting re-issued Yes albums with 5.1 Surround mixes, is that the bass channel can be boosted or even isolated completely. That allows one to hear way more precise details in what Chris was playing..No prog fan should be without a Surround audio system; a basic one isn't all that expensive.

Chris’s mightily ascending bass line towards the end of Astral Traveller is the one that gave me the hearing loss I have today at 70. I used to put the speakers of my stereo either side of my head and play the song at full volume over and over. The tone is chunky and the melody glorious. Yes at their finest. Did someone say something?

Definition of Yes; collection of virtuosos individually distinct and expert in their craft playing together, but allowing each other all to shine in the piece as needed to reflect eclectic style of amazing other-worldly music.

When I was learning to play electric bass many a decade ago, I would learn Chris Squire's lines by playing along with the records. I had all the early LPs. One time I went to jam with a guitar player, he had Siberian Khatru playing on a reel-to-reel. He said we're going to cover this song. He was a Steve Howe freak. But we never found a drummer for that band. Thanks for this video!

Chris decorated any stage on which he performed. He was the show within the show. He made sure anyone with a ticket got his money’s worth. Too much can not be said of him. I enjoy watching the faces of people hearing YES for the first time and how they lit up hearing his bass come into whichever song they were hearing at the time. Gone but never, as long as music lovers live, forgotten.

He was always my favorite rock bass player. He was totally unique, innovative, had the best tone ever and projected more confidence on stage than any bass player or musician than I can think of. He really was the King.

What Jimi Hendrix was to Guitar, and Keith Emerson was to Keyboards / Synthesisers, Chris Squire was to Bass. He is that important.

18:34 I remember vividly from my childhood listening to entire "Close To The Edge" three times in a row, just flipping vinyl on a turntable from side A to B, and then back to A again..., and watching the cover : Staring at it, analyzing every single detail of Roger Dean's imaginary world, wondering how it relates to the lyrics of the song? Then, reading all info, memorizing the names of every band member, then listening to the album multiple times : listening just for Bill on drums, listening just for Rick on the keyboards, listening just to Chris, to Jon, to Steve. I feel pity for the young generation in a sense, because majority of kids these days will never have an opportunity to experience these things as we did, ignite their imagination beyond just staring at their telephones, constantly flipping from image to image, listening (on telephone speakers!) to 15 seconds' snippets of unrelated songs, never listening to the entire albums... Sad. Really sad.

The bass playing on Hold Out Your Hand from Fish Out Of Water is brilliant and memorable. Thanks for posting a nice video on a great musician!

His unique sound, creativity and unexpected time signature changes made Chris a genius on the bass.

I met him and Alan when Yes were on tour. I was a big fan of the band and especially of Chris and he really took his time to speak to a young admirerer. Huge guy, huge hands, it was an unforgettable memory. I promised him that I would buy a Rickenbacker some day.
